My Blog Experience by Elessar Marin
Participating in our recent class presentations turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in this course. At first, I expected it to feel like a regular school assignment where each person simply completes their own section and combines everything together at the end. However, the experience was much more collaborative than I imagined. Everyone communicated openly, supported one another, and worked together to overcome challenges throughout the process. Because of this, the project not only helped me learn more about communication, but it also helped me build stronger connections with my classmates and better understand the importance of teamwork.
One presentation that stood out to me the most was group one’s discussion on “Intercultural Communication.” Their presentation explored how culture affects the way people interact, communicate, and understand one another. They explained that culture is not limited to traditions, language, or customs. Instead, culture is built from shared beliefs, values, attitudes, and social expectations that shape human behavior and relationships. I found their explanation very interesting because it showed how deeply culture influences everyday life, even in ways people may not always notice.
What made group one’s presentation especially memorable was the way they analyzed the topic instead of simply defining it. They explained that understanding culture requires people to look beyond surface-level stereotypes and examine the difference between what a culture claims to value and how those values are actually practiced in reality. This perspective made the topic feel more realistic and meaningful because it encouraged critical thinking rather than simple memorization. In addition to their strong research, I also appreciated the design of their slides. The presentation was visually organized, creative, and easy to follow, which kept the audience engaged from beginning to end. Overall, their work helped me gain a stronger appreciation for the role culture plays in communication and human interaction.
My own group, group two, presented on the chapter “Communicating in Groups,” and I felt extremely proud of everything we accomplished together. From the start of the project, everyone in the group contributed positively and respected each other’s ideas. We quickly learned how to balance our different strengths, and that helped the entire process run smoothly. Instead of competing with one another, we focused on cooperation and making sure every member felt included in the project.
Our topic focused on the idea of group communication and how it differs from individual interaction. We learned that a true group is not simply a random collection of people. A group is made up of individuals who share a common purpose, communicate regularly, and work together toward the same goals. This idea became very meaningful to me because I realized our own group reflected those characteristics throughout the project. Every member contributed effort, creativity, and support in order to create a successful final presentation.
One of my favorite parts of the experience was seeing how everyone’s creativity came together. Each group member had their own presentation style and ideas for slide designs, but we worked carefully to combine those ideas into one polished and professional project. We spent a lot of time organizing information, improving our explanations, and making sure the audience could clearly understand our topic. I believe our teamwork was one of the main reasons the presentation turned out so well. It showed me how collaboration can lead to stronger results than individual work alone.
Another important presentation was group three’s topic, “Group Leadership and Problem Solving.” Their discussion focused on the importance of leadership, teamwork, and decision-making within groups. One of the main concepts they explained was synergy, which is the idea that people working together effectively can achieve better outcomes than a single individual working alone. I found this idea very relatable because I have personally experienced situations where teamwork either improved a project or made it more difficult depending on how the group communicated.
What I appreciated most about group three’s presentation was how realistic it felt. They acknowledged that group work is not always easy or enjoyable. Sometimes disagreements, poor communication, or lack of effort can create frustration within a team. Many people tend to blame the leader when a group struggles, but their presentation emphasized that responsibility belongs to every member, not only one person. I thought this was a very important point because successful teamwork depends on cooperation, accountability, and communication from everyone involved.
Their presentation also connected strongly to real-world situations and future careers. In today’s workplace, companies value teamwork because effective collaboration often leads to better ideas, increased productivity, and stronger morale among employees. Listening to their discussion made me realize how important communication and leadership skills will be in the future. In almost any profession, people are expected to work with teams made up of individuals who have different personalities, experiences, and working styles. Learning how to communicate clearly, solve conflicts, and work together effectively is an essential skill that can benefit anyone throughout life.
After reflecting on the entire presentation experience, I realized how valuable teamwork and communication truly are. Many school projects can sometimes feel disconnected, with students working separately and combining everything together at the last minute. This project felt very different because every group approached the subject of communication from a unique perspective while still connecting to similar themes. Group one explored the influence of culture on communication, my group focused on teamwork and group interaction, and group three explained leadership and problem-solving. Together, all three presentations showed how communication plays a major role in building relationships, solving problems, and achieving common goals.
Overall, this experience taught me lessons that go beyond the classroom. I learned that collaboration becomes more effective when people respect each other’s ideas and support one another throughout the process. I also learned that different perspectives and creative approaches can strengthen a group instead of dividing it. Most importantly, this project helped me develop a greater appreciation for teamwork, leadership, and communication. It reminded me that success is often achieved not by one person alone, but through the combined effort of people working together toward a shared purpose.
