After watching all the presentations, I enjoyed them more than I expected. Each group expressed its creativity in its own way and explained its topics differently. I liked that the presentations were not only informative but also connected to real-life situations that many people experience every day. The topics about intercultural communication, communicating in groups, and leadership all showed how important communication is in different parts of life.
My group presented Chapter 9, which focused on group communication. I enjoyed working on this project because it showed how important communication is when people work together toward a common goal. Our chapter discussed the nature and types of groups, healthy groups, stages of group development, and conflict in groups. My role in the presentation was to explain the nature and types of groups, families, and social groups. At first, I was nervous because presenting in front of the class can feel stressful, but once I started speaking, I became more comfortable. One thing I really appreciated about my group was how supportive everyone was. Whenever someone did not understand part of the chapter or needed help with their slides, the group worked together to explain things instead of making anyone feel embarrassed. Support helped our presentation come together better in the end. Even though everyone had different schedules and responsibilities, we still managed to communicate and complete our work together. The most stressful part of the group project was making sure everyone completed their section on time. Some group members were balancing school and a full-time job, making coordination difficult at times. Even though it was challenging, everyone still put effort into the presentation and tried their best. This also connects to what we learned in Chapter 9, because healthy groups need accountability, teamwork, and communication to succeed. I also liked how creative everyone's slides were in my group. Every slide had a different style, but they still connected together as one presentation. My group did an excellent job presenting, with everyone clearly presenting their topics and working to keep the audience engaged. I especially enjoyed learning about group conflict and the stages of group development because these topics showed how groups grow, communicate, and solve problems as they work together.
The first presentation was about intercultural communication, and this was one of the topics I enjoyed the most. I liked how the group explained the connection between culture and communication and how people from different backgrounds communicate differently. The parts that stood out to me the most were those about race, ethnicity, sex, and gender. Those are important topics because we live in a society where many people still confuse them or do not fully understand their differences. Two subtopics that really stood out to me were the discussion of race and ethnicity. It made me think about how many people confuse the two in everyday conversations. For example, if someone asks another person about their race, they may answer "Latino," but Latino is actually considered an ethnicity, not a race. I liked being able to think deeper about topics like this because it showed how culture and identity are more complex than people may realize. I really liked Group 1's presentation overall because it was organized, clear, and easy to follow. Everyone seemed prepared, and they explained their information in a way that kept the audience interested. I also liked how they presented in their own words instead of reading out the PowerPoint.
The last presentation was about group leadership and problem-solving. I enjoyed this presentation because leadership affects everyone, whether in school, work, sports, or personal life. I liked how the group explained the different leadership roles and responsibilities within a group. They also explained the steps for solving problems in an easy-to-follow, understandable way. What stood out to me the most was how they broke down problem-solving step by step. Instead of making it sound complicated, they explained that groups first identify a problem, analyze it, develop solutions, and then choose the best option. I think this information is useful not only in class projects but also in everyday life situations. Sometimes people rush into decisions without properly thinking through the problem first, so I liked learning about a more organized process. The only thing I did not really like about their presentation was that one person seemed unprepared when it was time for them to present their section. You could tell they were nervous or not prepared at first, but I still respect that they ended up presenting by the end instead of completely avoiding it. Presenting in front of a class is not easy for everyone, so I understand that some people are anxious. Besides that moment, I still think the group did a good job overall. Another part of the presentations I appreciated was seeing how teamwork affected each group’s presentation quality. Groups that communicated well together seemed more confident and organized when presenting. You could tell when group members practiced together and understood their roles because the presentation flowed more smoothly. I also noticed that groups who supported each other during mistakes or nervous moments created a more comfortable environment for both the presenters and the audience. Watching everyone present made me realize that communication skills are important not only in school but also in future careers and everyday relationships. Being able to explain ideas clearly, listen to others, and work together are skills that people will continue to use throughout their lives.
Overall, I genuinely enjoyed all the presentations. Every group brought something different to the class, and I learned a lot from each other. I also liked seeing how communication connects to real life in so many ways, whether it is through culture, teamwork, leadership, or conflict resolution. Presentation day showed me that communication is not just about talking. It is also about understanding people, working together, solving problems, and respecting different perspectives. Everyone worked hard on their presentations, and it made the class experience more engaging and memorable.
Really nice reflection!
